The honorable Ministry of New and Renewable Ministry has shared an update on the simplification of procedure for rooftop solar programme Phase-II in a notification shared on its website – https://solarrooftop.gov.in/notifications/view

The latest notification shared tells us that the Ministry is working to create a new portal for individual Solar customers to apply for a new Solar Power Plant connection with related DISCOM and get subsidy from the DISCOM directly into their account. A few days back, the Honorable Minister of MNRE, Sh. Raj Kumar Singh Ji, said that no empanelment will be required for any company to install a Grid-connected Solar Power plant under Rooftop Solar Programme Phase-II. Any customer can now buy Solar panels from the market (As Government will specify in later notifications on standards to be followed by such customers along with safety certifications for the products being used) and install his own Solar plant and get subsidy from the Government. for the same. However, the Ministry will launch a new portal on solarrooftop.gov.in to apply and track the Solar plant net-metering and subsidy application. Accordingly, one can apply for Solar subsidy only after the portal is operational. Kindly be aware and avoid getting trapped in the marketing propaganda of some unethical companies. Look out for news updates only from MNRE, no one else.
