All state governments must learn from Gujarat Solar model in India. The period since last six months has worsened the Solar Power sector particularly in Haryana and the state government is least concerned about it. The new Solar entrepreneurs are suffering, the green energy generation is suffering and the environment is becoming polluted day by day. Since June, 2019 when the decision of giving subsidy through DISCOMs was implemented by MNRE, no new grid connected Solar plant has been installed by many companies and they are compelled to sit idle.
Whereas, in Gujarat, where it was said in 2015 itself that it has surplus power now, the government is drafting and implementing clear policies in Solar sector to actually boost the generation of more and more green energy. The Gujarat state government had launched Suryashakti Kisan Yojana (SKY) in 2018 and some pilot projects were executed as per the plan, which are now bringing new colors. The SKY policy helps farmers get 60% upfront subsidy along with 35% of loan@6% Interest rate for next 5-7 years. They are being paid ₹7/unit(₹3.5 from DISCOM + ₹3.5 from state Government) for the extra electricity injected by them in the Grid. Shame on other DISCOMs as they are not at all proactive for this kind of initiation. The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy handed over the difficult task of KUSUM yojna to related DISCOMs. We all know the poor financial situation of all DISCOMs except Gujarat and New Delhi. It will not be fun to say- “KUSUM awaited” for next one or two years also, if the work goes at the current pace in DISCOMs. The question is “How the Government will double the farmers’ income by 2022 in Haryana”
